Meta Connect 2026: Muse, New AI Glasses and 100-Gram VR Glasses Put AI Agents Within Everyone's Reach

Meta Connect 2026 brought the Muse AI agent to glasses, new Ray-Ban Meta models and 100-gram VR glasses. Here's what it means for businesses.

Meta Connect 2026: Muse, New AI Glasses and 100-Gram VR Glasses Put AI Agents Within Everyone's Reach

Meta held Connect 2026 on September 23. There were plenty of new devices, but the bigger news was the plan behind them. Meta is putting a personal AI agent into the apps and glasses that hundreds of millions of people already use.

What Meta announced

  • Muse on AI glasses. Muse is Meta's AI agent. It launched on September 8 and is coming to Meta's glasses "in the coming months." You say its name and give it a task. It works in the background and tells you when the task is done.
  • Muse Charm. A keychain-sized device with a small screen, speakers, microphones and a fingerprint sensor. It exists to hold your personal Muse agent. Meta says more details will come later in 2026.
  • Meta VR Glasses. A new kind of VR device that weighs about 100 grams, roughly a fifth of a Meta Quest 3. It has a 5K display, full-color passthrough and hand-gesture controls, and it runs off a tethered battery puck. It costs US$1,299 and ships in spring 2027.
  • Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 (from US$449, available now), with a 12MP camera, 3K video and 9-hour battery life.
  • Ray-Ban Meta Audio (from US$349), audio-only AI glasses with no camera, shipping October 13.
  • Ray-Ban Meta Display is coming to the EU on October 13, with new features including navigation and holographic avatars in video calls.

Muse is an AI that does the task for you

Most people use AI to answer questions. Muse carries out the task. Meta says it can browse the web, book travel, make phone calls, send emails and buy things for you. It already works with retailers including Walmart, Best Buy, Gap and Sephora, with Expedia for travel and with Instacart for groceries. It runs as its own app on iOS, Android and Mac, and inside WhatsApp chats. It asks permission before sensitive actions like purchases, and you choose which services it can connect to.

People have taken to it quickly. Sensor Tower data puts Muse at 560,000 daily active users within 11 days of launch, and it reached No. 1 on Apple's US App Store.

Why it matters that Meta is doing this

AI agents aren't new. Open-source agents like OpenClaw and Hermes have been doing this kind of work for a while. But using them usually meant installing software, connecting APIs and knowing what you were doing. Only a technical minority did it.

Meta changes that because it starts with the users. The agent sits inside WhatsApp, which people already open dozens of times a day, and it's free to use. Meta handles the setup. When an agent needs no more effort than sending a message, it stops being a tool for early adopters and becomes something anyone can use. In practice, that makes agentic AI a commodity.

"It will make you money"

Zuckerberg has said Muse is "going to make you money and save you money," and that this is how it will pay for itself. The business model explains the claim. Meta plans to take "a small fee from transactions" that Muse completes, instead of charging a subscription.

For consumers, the saving is concrete: comparing prices, tracking deals and sorting out bookings you'd otherwise do by hand. For businesses, there's a bigger point. If people start asking an agent to find and buy things for them, the agent decides which shop gets the sale. Being easy for an agent to find, compare and buy from will start to matter as much as being easy for a person to find.

Glasses are where agents become hands-free

On a phone, you still have to take the device out and type. On glasses, you speak and the agent works while your hands are busy. Meta showed examples like guided workouts and meal logging. The same setup works for any task you'd like done while you do something else.

VR gets light enough to wear

The Meta VR Glasses deal with the biggest complaint about VR: the headset is heavy and uncomfortable to wear for long. A 100-gram device with a separate battery puck is much easier to put on for a short session. Short sessions are how most business VR gets used: a property walkthrough, a safety training module, a product demo.

At InReality, we build 360° virtual tours and VR training. A lighter headset means less resistance from the people we build for, whether that's a buyer viewing a unit or a factory worker doing safety training.

What businesses should do now

  1. Make your business easy for agents to use. Keep prices, availability, booking and contact details clear and up to date online. An agent can only recommend what it can read.
  2. Watch WhatsApp. Most Indonesians already live in WhatsApp. If agents become part of it here too, many buying decisions will start in a chat.
  3. Plan immersive content for short sessions. Lighter headsets and glasses favor quick, focused experiences over long ones.

If you want help with the first point, our AI automation team works on exactly this: making business information and booking flows ready for how customers now search and buy.

Welcome to a new world

Some of the hardware is months away and Muse isn't on the glasses yet. But the direction is clear. An AI that does real tasks for you is no longer a niche tool. It's becoming part of the apps people already use every day. Businesses that prepare for customers who send an agent to shop for them will be in a better position than those that wait.
